This was the first year that AMMC have attended the Blisworth Canal Festival and the club were positioned on the playing field behind the village hall. A varied display of members' boats were laid out in the marquee and the club's portable boat pond was set up, allowing visitors to have a go at controlling the club boats.
The club's chairman, Robin, was also inside the club marquee demonstrating the building of a model boat kit to anyone who was interested.

( - Obituary as published in the Northampton Newspapers on 23rd February 2011) |
George was a great supporter of Anglia Marine Model Club and it was he who first granted AMMC permission to sail on the pond at Holcot Poplar Farm and treat it as their own, his support and interest will be sadly missed.
This year the AMMC club stand was in a prominent position adjacent to the sailing pool and looked exceedingly smart with all boats displaying matching information sheets, members wearing the club uniform and new banners being displayed.
In addition to an excellent selection of various marine models, the club also had a dedicated Victorian section on display. Members also provided the public with several sailing exhibitions on the pool, with our own Mick Huggett providing the commentary, and children visiting the show were delighted to be able to try their hand at radio controlled sailing with free use of the club's 'have a go boats' during the lunch hour.
In keeping with the theme of this show, our members provided a comprehensive display of wartime marine craft which attracted a lot of attention from both the visiting public and the show participants.
Club members were challenged to build a straight running boat from recylced materials. Each boat must have 1 motor, 1 prop, 1 rudder and no radio. It was also compulsory that the model must fit in a 20 inch cube.
On the day, a swirling breeze made this a very entertaining event that was eventually won by Ron Smith.

With our members all wearing their new AMMC shirts, the club made a good impression with their first appearance at this show.
The exhibition marquee and the 'have a go' boats maintained a constant stream of visitors throughout both days and we look forward to being able to add further events at this venue to our 2011 bookings.
This well supported club event, organised by our Habour Master Dave Jones, took place on our home water at Holcot from 3pm to 9pm.
8 teams comprised of 2 or 3 club members, driving in 30 minutes sessions, took part in the challenge to continously drive for 6 hours while maintaining scale speed. Non competing members offered their vocal support from the club marquee.
Lesley Loveland and Meriol Smart made sure everyone was kept well fed and watered with the barbecue food and beverages provided by the club and the delicious selection of cakes baked by Lesley.
A great day was had by all!

This enjoyable club event, organised by Ron and Chris Smith, tested the boat driving skills of many of our club members.
Using any boat, entrants had to tow the club barge around an obsticle course and then dock. Points were awarded for accuracy.
With a large number of competitors, the event continued late into the afternoon. Pete and Anne Riches helped score the event with Ron and Chris.
The results of the Derek Harbottle Challenge - Ship Handling were as follows:-
